Our Story

Here at Wine Country Goldens, our focus is to ETHICALLY and RESPONSIBLY breed amazing Golden Retrievers that go on to become not only amazing family pets but are sometimes sought after for Service Dogs or Therapy Dogs. We are NOT new at this, as many have jumped on the bandwagon during the pandemic, but we have been breeding since 2014, and have my 5th GENERATION of Goldens here now.

Our Golden Retriever puppies are hand-raised in my home, on our 30-acre farm consisting of rolling hills, surrounded by vineyards, stables, and an olive orchard here in Sonoma County… a property that has been in my family for decades. With the help of my family, it is a PRIVILEGE to be a part of my puppies’ lives and I feel a great responsibility as their “stewards” to make sure we give them the best start in life and find loving, responsible homes that will love them as much as I do! It is important to me to provide healthy, happy, loved & socialized puppies… the building blocks of amazing Golden Retrievers!

Please ask me questions about our breeding practices and ethics. I want those looking for a puppy to size me up and I want to get a feel for the homes they may be going to. I strongly encourage all those seeking to add a Golden Retriever to their family, to please do your research in order to understand the NEEDS of a Golden Retriever such as exercise, grooming, dietary requirements, mental stimulation, and lots and lots of love (that’s the easy part)! This is what makes them such wonderful family dogs. Have questions ready so you can make sure you are choosing the right breed for you! In this way, it is a win-win for both the PUPPY and YOU!

We often hear back from puppy parents that their Golden Retriever is the most amazing and loving Golden they have ever had. I feel such pride in knowing we have done everything we could possibly do to facilitate this outcome, from the hours, days, weeks, and months, of researching studs, to having a calm and safe whelp, and keeping their areas hygienic and tidy, etc.  (Spending hours kindly talking to them, snuggling them, kissing them, and so on, does not hurt, either!)  That is just the first eight weeks or so. It is obvious to me that the puppy parents have picked up where I have left off, loving them and giving them what they need from the moment they bring them home. You will see a correlation with how much you put into your Golden and how they are as long-time family members.  Golden Retrievers make it EASY to elicit those actions in their owners.

In addition, I do not ship my puppies as it is too traumatic at a very critical age, but I do allow in-cabin air travel accompanied by a guardian or new owner.

I could literally go on and on….Please contact me if you have any questions about our practices or about our Goldens, any Goldens, and/or how to raise Goldens. If I don’t know the answers, I will help to find them.
